Dad at 13
Recently in the news is the story of a U.K. boy who fathered a child at 13 years old. Sure this is shocking and disturbing in so many ways, but the question in my head is “Why is all the attention focused on the father? Why is he the one posing with the baby on the cover of The Sun? Why not the baby’s mother, Chantalle? Why not both parents?” The answer: Because he is 13. It’s almost as if a 15-year-old mother has no shock value anymore for the media…we are used to 15 year old mothers. Don’t get me wrong, 13 is wayyyy young to be fathering anything, but when did 15 become acceptable?
That’s a sad commentary on not only the U.S., but in this case, the world.

This is crazy stuff… the kid doesn’t even know what the word financially means. I pray for the baby

Oh. my. gosh. I hadn’t heard about this – I don’t even know what to say to it!
And he looks much younger than 13, I wonder if the magazine made him look that way purposely for more shock value? He seriously looks like he could pass for a 6 year old in that picture.

This story makes me feel sick…he really does look 6 years old in the pictures…I feel bad for the baby…its always the babies that suffer when people make really bad decisions!

I’m extremely disturbed. Ms. Informed makes a good point though. I guess in some places its normal for girls to have kids at 15, but a boy fathering kids at 13 is kind of unheard of, even though it’s not so much worse.
