He didn't actually receive gender re-assignment surgery...that would have involved the removal of his reproductive organs. Rather, he chose to have breast augmentation and take testosterone. And as for the biological child statement...I believe he was making the point that a man or woman has the right to a biological child...as in they have the right to have the child be part of its blood/dna lineage. He was defending the fact that they didn't choose to adopt, and instead decided to conceive his biological child (since the wife could no longer bear biological children) and that he had a right to do so because any human beings containing their reproductive organs have a right to. I agree that this occurrence is definately odd...but I think Thomas and Nancy are wonderful spokespeople for what they are doing.
