McCain v. Obama, Clinton

Friday, February 8th, 2008

For all you political junkies, Rasmussen Reports conducts a daily national tracking poll of McCain v. Clinton and McCain vs. Obama.  Today’s results show McCain over Clinton 46%-43% and Obama over McCain 47%-42%.  The reason Obama trumps McCain is because he does slightly better than McCain among Independents. Ok, so I admit this is another shameless plug for Obama, but if the Democrats want to take back the White House in November, they are going to have to win among independent voters, and as of now it appears that Obama is the candidate who can do that. If Obama can play that card well enough, it just might be the key to the nomination.

McCain, A Democrat?

No, of course not, but the day that he was basically handed the nomination after Mitt Romney suspended his bid, good old FOX News inadvertently (maybe) labeled him one.  Coincidence? Probably, but then again I would not put anything past Rupert Murdoch and gang.

No, he is not gay (although that would have made this story so much sweeter). He has just dropped out of the race for the GOP nomination after a poor showing on Super Tuesday. This effectively hands John McCain the nomination.

Accidental OD for Ledger

Wednesday, February 6th, 2008

The New York Medical Examiner revealed today that the cause of death for 28-year-old actor Heath Ledger was an accidental overdose consisting of painkillers, sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medication (aka OxyContin, Valium, Xanax, Restoril, Unisom and Hydrocodone).

According to the AP:
“Mr. Heath Ledger died as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine,” medical examiner’s spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said in a news release.

Bipolar Britney

Shortly after 1 a.m. (Cali time) this morning, Britney Spears was removed from her home by authorities and transported with help from a motorcade to UCLA Medical Center for a mental health evaluation. Britney was placed on a 5150 hold, which is a 72-hour confinement of a person considered a danger to themselves or others. This hospital visit, unlike the last, was apparently planned, and her family, excluding extended family, were gathered in her home for an intervention. Which (somewhat) explains why Spears was taking a breather and sitting on the curb outside of her home earlier this week.

Following the motorcade (which was the length of a football field) was Lynne Spears and (on-again?) boyfriend Adnan Ghalib.

Sources say Spears’ psychiatrist did call LA police to the singer’s home, and Spears has not slept since Saturday.

Ok, we officially know way too much about one person’s life.

Kennedy Clan Endorses Obama

A Tony Cartalemi Report

One of the most famous political family in American politics is throwing its weight behind Senator Barack Obama. This weekend, Caroline Kennedy, daughter of former President John F. Kennedy, officially endorsed Obama in an editorial for the New York Times, saying,

I have never had a president who inspired me the way people tell me that my father inspired them. But for the first time, I believe I have found the man who could be that president — not just for me, but for a new generation of Americans.

Today, Senator Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts and his son, Representative Patrick Kennedy of Rhode Island will be following suit as they announce their support for the Illinois Senator as well. This is a huge boost for Senator Obama and could possibly put Massachusetts in play on Super Tuesday. Clinton was not counting on a battle here, but that might be exactly what she gets.
