While his publicist confirmed reports that Patrick Swayze does have pancreatic cancer, his doctors believe he has may have more time than originally thought. The National Enquirer (so close to getting the whole thing right…so close, yet so, so far) reported the star had 5 weeks left to live in light of his cancer, but Swayze’s physician, George Fisher, is far more optimistic than original reports suggested.

“Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far,” Swayze’s physician, said in the statement. “All of the reports stating the time frame of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue. We are considerably more optimistic.”

Our prayers are with you!

Well, at least that’s what the polls indicate. A few weeks ago I posted an article showing Obama ahead of McCain in national polling and Clinton trailing. This still hold true, but now there is only more bad news for the Clinton camp with new state polls in key swing states showing Clinton trailing McCain and Obama winning by pretty significant margins.

Let’s take a look:

Oregon (Rasmussen Reports):
McCain 45%, Clinton 42%
McCain 40%, Obama 49%

Colorado (Rasmussen Reports):
McCain 49%, Clinton 35%
McCain 39%, Obama 46%

Nevada (Rasmussen Reports):
McCain 49%, Clinton 40%
McCain 38%, Obama 50%

Pennsylvania (Rasmussen Reports):
McCain 44%, Clinton 42%
McCain 39%, Obama 49%

Minnesota (Rasmussen Reports):
McCain 47%, Clinton 42%
McCain 38%, Obama 53%

Wisconsin (SurveyUSA):
McCain 49%, Clinton 42%
McCain 42%, Obama 52%

Iowa (SurveyUSA):
McCain 52%, Clinton 41%
McCain 41%, Obama 51%

Now I realize these are just polls, and I once again in no way claim to be unbiased as I have officially endorsed Obama, but the signs are clear. Clinton does not win one of the above swing states, which total 69 electoral votes. The Democrats need to win most if not all of these states if they want to take back the White House, and it is evident that Obama is the candidate who can do just that.

With Florida trending more conservative, and Ohio another uphill battle, the Democrats need to not only hold the Northeast, Midwest, and Pacific Coast, they need to widen their horizon and pick up other states, namely in the Southwest. They need to win Nevada, Colorado, and New Mexico. Obama’s appeal to independent voters puts these states in play. Clinton’s polarizing persona seems to put these critical states and consequently the Presidency out of reach.

Update
Shortly after posting this morning, SurveyUSA released a new poll in Virginia, which has not voted for a Democartic presidential candidate since Lyndon Johnson in 1964. Here are the results:

Virginia (SurveyUSA):
McCain 48%, Clinton 45%
McCain 45%, Obama 51%

What woman turns down a marriage proposal from Brad Pitt in the first place? Well, Angelina does have a slight reputation for being off her rocker. She made out with her brother and wore a vile of ex-husband Billy Bob Thorton’s blood around her neck. Who marries BBT but turns down Brad Pitt repeatedly? What is wrong with you, Angie? You are out of your mind!!! What does Brad see in you anyway? I am Team Jen all the way. But I digress…

Maybe this one is true as the couple has been rumored to be pregnant with twins after Angelina showed up to the SAG Awards with a flowing Hermes gown with enough room to conceal quintuplets. Then again maybe it’s not. Stay tuned.

~T.C.

While Amy Winehouse was cleaning up at the Grammys on Sunday night, Barack Obama was scoring his fourth victory of the weekend (fifth if you count the Virgin Islands), taking the Maine caucuses 59% to Hillary Clinton’s 40%. On Saturday night, while I was a filling in for Ms. Winehouse in the hott mess department, Obama was having a much more constructive evening, winning the Louisiana primary by 21 percentage points and the Washington and Nebraska caucuses by over 35 percentage points each.

In an effort to halt Obama’s momentum after this weekend’s sweep, Clinton replaced her campaign manager, but with Obama the favorite to win the Potomac primaries on Tuesday, Clinton might be seeing her dream of being the first female president fall further out of reach. Somehow, Clinton has to manage to survive February, maybe with a win in Wisconsin, to face Obama in what could be their final showdown in Texas and Ohio on March 4. These states should be friendlier to Clinton, but with the wind at Obama’s back, it should be close.

The weekend was also big for Mike Huckabee, who followed up his Super Tuesday victories in the South with two more wins in Louisiana and Kansas and a virtual tie in the more liberal state of Washington. While Huckabee mathematically cannot eclipse John McCain in terms of delegates and win the GOP nomination, McCain’s losses highlight his lack of support among social conservatives. This could be a problem for him in the general election. Love it.

What does Huckabee have to say about his chances of winning the nomination? “I didn’t major in math, I majored in miracles.” How could anyone vote for this guy for president? I would not vote for him for dog catcher.
