They Tried to Get Her to the Grammys…
Friday, February 8th, 2008
…but they said “No, no, no.” (Editor’s Note: Ok, this song has officially been retired for use in puns.)
U.S. officials vetoed Amy Winehouse’s request for a Visa to attend this Sunday’s 50th Grammy Awards. The veto comes as a crushing blow to Winehouse, who is up for six awards, second only to Kayne West’s eight nominations. Winehouse six nominations include Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for “Rehab,” Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for Back to Black, as well as Best New Artist.
While Winehouse won’t physically be gracing the Staples Center with her presence, she is scheduled to deliver a virtual performance, via satellite.
The Tragedy of Rolling Stone
Thursday, February 7th, 2008
The “former” Pop Princess, Britney Spears “graces” the cover of the current issue of Rolling Stone magazine. However, unlike the past six times Britney has appeared on the cover, this time it is not for her music. No, this time the caption reads, “Britney Spears, Inside an American Tragedy.”
Hey Rolling Stone — Newsflash: Britney Spears is not dead! (They even have a
photo gallery entitled “The Star’s Life in Photos” !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
While her recent history has been one tragic story after another (starting about a year ago when she entered rehab, left rehab, shaved her head and re-entered rehab all within about 45 minutes), calling this young woman a tragedy is taking it one step too far. We at Ms Informed love nothing better than to go that extra step, to see the line and so callously step right over it, but not in this case. Britney has some serious psychological issues for which she needs medical help (read RS’s
excerpt and tell me these are the words and actions of someone deemed sane), and it is high time for the blood-sucking paparazzi to stop chasing her everywhere she goes and let her get the help she so desperately needs before an American tragedy really does strike.
At the young age of 26, Britney has accomplished much more than most of us and has plenty of time to straighten her life out. Whether that means making a comeback or leaving fame behind completely. But either way, don’t close the book on her just yet. Sure, Spears may be down, but she is certainly not out. (Even with her current problems, Piece of Me STILL hits #1 on Z100’s High Noon countdown…sometimes #2. Sometimes.) Perhaps, the crazy Chris Crocker said it best when he pleaded, “Leave Britney alone.”
Much love to Britney. We wish you all the best.

It’s Britney, Bitch.
Thursday, February 7th, 2008I was going to write a post about Britney being released from the psych ward, despite an alleged 14-day extension of her stay, about Britney and Adnan going to see her lawyer (probably to have conservatorship taken away from Papa Spears), about Britney’s Audi being towed, but then decided not to.
While the pap are chasing Britney around Beverly Hills, less than 24 hours after she was released from the psych ward, we need to realize she is a real person, with real problems, who needs real help.
To that end, MsInformedBlog.com has taken a stand to not report on the happenings of Ms. Spears’ crazy circus of a life, until she is on her way to getting better. However long that may take.
Get well soon.
Father Knows Best for Spears
Monday, February 4th, 2008Britney’s dad, Jamie Spears, is now in charge of his daughter’s estate, as health professionals have extended the star’s stay in the psych ward by two weeks, citing legal code 5250 — allowing patients to be retained for medical treatment if they are found to be gravely disabled or a danger to themselves or others. Spears is being treated for severe bipolar disorder (shock) at the UCLA Medical Center.
A restraining order was also filed by Spears’ self-proclaimed “manager” Sam Lufti, who seems to have some weird control over Britney and her rather absurd actions.
According to the
Daily News,
Britney was reported to have launched into a profanity-laced rage when told Daddy was now in charge, screaming, “Nobody’s going to take my house!” and “Who is my family?”
Britney has the right to legally fight her father in court, but really, I don’t think she is capable if she can’t even show up to a hearing for her own children. Although her estate may be more valuable to her delusional self at the moment.
Spears is being weened off ADD medication, as doctors believe she doesn’t really have ADD. They can also obtain authorization allowing them to force her to take any prescribed medications they find she is not taking on her own will.
As much as a media field day she is, everyone needs to look beyond that and realize she is a real person with real problems and she needs serious help. Hopefully this is the beginning of a long recovery process. Get well soon Britney!!!
Hott Mess of the Week
2/2/08
Saturday, February 2nd, 2008
While the mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick, was a pretty hott mess this week, getting himself involved in text message scandals that caused the resignation of his chief of staff Christine Beatty, and George Clooney became UN messenger of peace (oh wait, he’s not a hott mess, just hott, sorry.), this week’s hott mess is political pundit Ann Coulter.
Just because.
Conservative Coulter announced that if John McCain wins the Republican party nomination, she will be supporting Hillary. I don’t care who Coulter supports or if she jumps off a bridge. Actually, I care more about her jumping off a bridge. In fact, I will be supporting it.
Bipolar Britney
Thursday, January 31st, 2008Shortly after 1 a.m. (Cali time) this morning, Britney Spears was removed from her home by authorities and transported with help from a motorcade to UCLA Medical Center for a mental health evaluation. Britney was placed on a 5150 hold, which is a 72-hour confinement of a person considered a danger to themselves or others. This hospital visit, unlike the last, was apparently planned, and her family, excluding extended family, were gathered in her home for an intervention. Which (somewhat) explains why Spears was taking a breather and sitting on the curb outside of her home earlier this week.
Following the motorcade (which was the length of a football field) was Lynne Spears and (on-again?) boyfriend Adnan Ghalib.
Sources say Spears’ psychiatrist did call LA police to the singer’s home, and Spears has not slept since Saturday.
Ok, we officially know way too much about one person’s life.
