Chris Brown has changed his relationship status..

Friday, February 13th, 2009

Less than a week after he allegedly assaulted girlfriend Rihanna this weekend before their schedule appearances at the Grammy awards, Chris Brown’s Facebook status now lists the 19-year-old as “single.” He also spoke out via his Facebook account (under Christopher Maurice Brown) saying, “You’ll begin to see her true colors. Believe it!”

Well it’s on Facebook, then it must be true.

Brown’s cousin, Phylicia Thompson, defends her cousin, commenting that nobody knows what happens behind closed doors, but then continued to say “Of course, yes, he’s done something wrong because he puts his hands on her, but like I said, you don’t know what happened.”

If he put his hands on her…isn’t THAT what happened? What else needs to have happened for him to be wrong?

In a related post, Emily blogged about women and the criminal justice system, and I think it’s a post and a topic that deserves some attention.

While his dad is busy hosting American Gladiators, a Florida judge who knows best sentenced Nick “Hogan” Bollella to 8 months in jail after pleading no contest to the charges of reckless driving involving serious bodily injury. He was also ordered to serve a probationary period of five years and 500 hours of community service. Bollella must surrender his driving privileges for three years and complete a DUI school within one year of his release from prison. His injured friend, former U.S. Marine John Graziano, 23, was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. He was left permanently brain-damaged after sustaining a broken skull may never fully recover.

Fair punishment for an accident, or a slap on the wrist because of who his father is (slash was)?

In related news, rapper Remy Ma was sentenced to 8 years in prison for a shooting that took place last summer outside of an NY nightclub. She claims it was an accident and plans to appeal the court’s decision.
