Win, Place and (Bad) Show

kc.jpg Turns out the nightly news broadcast is not the day at the races Katie Couric hoped it would be when she began her stint as CBS Evening News anchor last September.

According to recent Nielsen ratings, both of Couric’s competitors, NBC’s Brian Williams and ABC’s Charles Gibson are neck and neck, with Williams barely beating out Gibson’s broadcast; and Couric’s broadcast was down 13.5 percent compared to her rankings this time last year.

Oprah 4 Obama in ‘08

oprah.jpgPerhaps one of the most coveted tickets in Chicago is a seat at Oprah’s “Favorite Things” show, where the media mogul gives away everything from ice cream to Uggs to electronics and more.

And while he didn’t make her 2007 favorite things list, it’s certain that presidential hopeful Barack Obama sure is #1 on her list of favorite things for ‘08.

We’ve all seen what the power of O can do when endorsing something as simple as a book, a movie or a cd (sales for Josh Groban’s holiday album Noel increased 81 percent after being on her show). Will her support pave the way to the White House for the Barack come November?
